HOMEWORK: Homework is submitted (and graded) electronically via the software WebAssign (normally) each Tuesday and Thursday before 10:30am.  Textbook problems are assigned but will not be turned in and graded. We suggest that you do the initial practice problems to get used to WebAssign. Instructions for WebAssign can be found by going to http://www-math.umd.edu/undergraduate/resources.html and click on WebAssign.

HELP: Besides my office hours and TA's you can get help from tutoring hours in MATH 0301 (http://www-math.umd.edu/math-tutoring-schedule.html ) and tutoring at the Math Success Program (http://reslife.umd.edu/programs/math_success/). There is also counseling at the Learning Assistance Service (http://www.counseling.umd.edu/las/) and help at the Math Learning Program for math anxiety, preparation, study skills, etc. Here you can find some of the past years exams (look for the MATH140 folder after clicking on link).

TESTS: There will be 4 50-minute midterm tests (see the schedule below). The final exam covers the whole of the course.

GRAPHICS CALCULATORS: Graphics calculators are an integral part of the course, but are not allowed on hour tests or final examination. The Texas Instruments TI-83, TI-84, TI-85, TI-86, and TI-89 are the preferred types.

HONOR CODE: The UMD Code of Academic Integrity is administered by the Student Honor Council. The Code sets standards for academic integrity. You will be asked to write and sign the following honor pledge on each quiz and exam unless exempted by your instructor: "I pledge on my honor that I have not given or received any unauthorized assistance on this quiz/examination." Note that copying solutions from other sources is plagiarism.
