3. Pre-Audit Site Inspection

In the previous Section maintenance was the topic of discussion. Regular maintenance is essential for good performance. Thus, the first step in preparing to do an audit is to inspect the irrigation system for problems that might affect the performance and overall efficiency of irrigation. It consists of an evaluation of the control system, zoning of the areas to be irrigated, health of the plant material and physical condition of the system components. After the inspection, minor problems are repaired before system testing for uniformity is done.

Topic objectives:

  • Learners will learn to inspect system before doing an audit

  • Learners will learn what to look for in pre-audit inspection

  • Learners will learn to look at crop growth uniformity as a sign

  • Learners will learn what minor repairs may be needed before doing an audit.
