3.3 Crop Condition

Always inspect the crop for visible appearance of non-uniformity of growth or of color. The crop is a good indicator of trouble but some plants may not show a visible problem for several weeks.

Excessive water application should be visible as runoff or wet spots or crops suffering from excessive water.

Infiltration rate is important in landscape or field crops in soil. For container crops the water will likely infiltrate the substrate okay but excessive watering will cause too much leaching. Leaching is the excessive water that runs out of a container by force of gravity if over watered.
